 ABOUT KAHA

The Knoxville Amateur Hockey Association is a non-profit organization that offers Knoxville youth a fun and exciting hockey experience. KAHA was formed solely to promote and administer youth hockey in the Knoxville area. Since KAHA is an all volunteer organization, we seek out community as well as individual participation. Hockey is one of the most exciting and fast moving sports in the world. It is also one of the fastest growing. Boys and girls, ages 5 to 17, have been playing ice hockey with KAHA since 1962. Participation in KAHA's youth hockey program leads to the development of skating skills, strength, coordination, endurance, and most importantly a sense of team work. A balance of these skills leads to a well-rounded athlete. KAHA offers a variety of playing opportunities for different levels of ability and competitiveness through their instructional, recreational, and travel programs. KAHA is a member of the Southern Youth Hockey League which was formed to provide opportunities for inter-city play and maintain official league records. It also ensures a high level of ice hockey and sportsmanship in the southern region. Knoxville travel teams are in the Eastern division of the SYHL, competing against teams from Atlanta, Birmingham, Huntsville, Memphis, and Nashville. SYHL belongs to USA Hockey, the governing body for most youth hockey in the United States. USA Hockey makes and enforces the rules by which we play and helps to make hockey a fun as well as safe sport. Historically, KAHA teams have enjoyed much success. Over the years, youth teams from Knoxville have traveled throughout the Southeast and the Nation, bringing home championships in every age division. More important than championship trophies or economic impact, KAHA's real accomplishments are measured in the smiling faces of its youth. For years, KAHA has been a positive influence in the lives of Knoxville youth. KAHA could only achieve this with the help of their volunteers and community involvement.
